The Wapakoneta Redskins pulled off one of their biggest wins in years Tuesday with a 3-1 win over the Defiance Bulldogs in Western Buckeye League varsity volleyball action.

The win kept Wapakoneta (11-5, 4-1 WBL) in contention for a WBL title, as the Redskins stayed one loss behind the league's two unbeatens, St. Marys and Ottawa-Glandorf.

Only twice since the start of the 1998 season has Wapakoneta finished ahead of Defiance in the final league standings.

The Redskins' win Tuesday was their 11th of the season, exceeding last year's total of 10 in head coach Brittany Egbert's first season with the school.

Wapakoneta will play another key league match Thursday at Celina, which is tied for second place with the Redskins.
