The rally was a little too late.
Wapakoneta took on its second straight opponent from the Midwest Athletic Conference on Tuesday, hosting Marion Local. After three quarters, the Flyers were up 20 points.
Wapakoneta's fourth quarter effort was much better than the one against Coldwater, but Marion Local hung on for the 61-50 nonleague boys basketball win.
The Redskins are now 7-14 on the season. Noah Ambos had 13 points and Garrett Siefring added 10 for Wapakoneta.
Marion Local was paced by Alex Eyink with 19, Nathan Ungruhn with 14 and Bryce Moeller with 12 points.
Turnovers plagued the Redskins in the first half, and Marion Local used that plus its ability to connect on long passes to get several scores as they were ahead 27-15 after two quarters.
