Waynesfield-Goshen High School will be hosting the W-G Tiger Football Midnight Kick-off on Sunday.

Beginning with a 9 p.m. cookout and movie-watching event on the football field, the first official practice for the 2016 season will begin under the stadium lights at 12:01 a.m. Monday, the first day of practice permitted for Ohio high school football.

The cookout and movie are intended for prospective players for this year’s high school team and is an attempt to have more students join the football team for this season.

Former Tiger football players are invited to the Monday practice to watch and share with the current high school team their experiences as a WGHS football player.

Athletic director Brett Purcell said WGHS alums Gray Horn and Joe Horn will be on hand for the event.

The Tiger football team won’t be the only WGHS fall sports squad practicing just after midnight, as the volleyball program will be under the lights of the school gymnasium just after midnight.
