Searson, others recognized for Tigers

WAYNESFIELD — While Waynesfield-Goshen's football season is done, the honors continue.
The Tigers, who went 5-5 on the season, and nearly made the Division VII playoffs had junior Kyle Searson receive honorable mention for the all-Northwest District team.
Searson, a 5-11, 190-pound junior, played fullback and linebacker for the Tigers.
The all-Northwest Central Conference team was announced recently as well.
Mike Dennis of Hardin Northern was named coach of the year. The offensive player of the year was quarterback Elliott Gilardi of Lehman Catholic. Perry's Nylan Cannon, a linebacker, was chosen defensive player of the year.
For the first team offense, selections included Searson at linebacker.
Junior Joel Rickle and Searson were named to the second team at running back, along with senior Dustin Plummer at defensive lineman and junior Evan Miller at defensive back.
Receiving honorable mention for the Tigers were sophomore Layton Campbell (WR/DB); sophomore Austin Birt (OL/DL); and junior Josh Kirchner (OL/LB).
