Redskins take over 1st place in league

The Wapakoneta Redskins landed two big wins Tuesday to put themselves in first place in the Western Buckeye League standings.

Wapakoneta beat the two-time defending WBL champion Defiance Bulldogs, 43-31, in the opening match Tuesday at Elida High School.

The Redskins then rallied from a 30-22 deficit to upend the Elida Bulldogs, 40-33, giving Elida its first WBL loss of the season after a 6-0 start.

Wapakoneta's Cal Miller recorded a pin in the penultimate bout against Elida, giving his team a one-point lead, 34-33, before Dylan Plaugher secured the victory with a pin.

The Redskins are 5-0 in the WBL.
