The months of hard work paid off.
The Wapakoneta Redskins earned a hard-fought road victory to close the 2019 regular season, edging Ottawa-Glandorf 7-6.
The victory sets the Redskins at 9-1 for the year, and 8-1 in the Western Buckeye League. The win gives them a share of the WBL crown, along with Kenton, which defeated Elida on Friday.
The teams battled through the first two quarters with neither able to break through for points. A missed field goal for Wapakoneta and a fumble for O-G kept it even.
Wapakoneta got the ball to open the third quarter, and senior running back Evan Kaeck burst through and took off for a 73-yard scoring run. The Titans would answer with a score on the ensuing drive, but the PAT try was wide.
