For the second time this season, the Wapakoneta Redskins were on the winning side of a one-run game decided by a single inning.

The Redskins defeated the Maumee Panthers, 2-1, with all three runs coming in the fifth inning of the high school baseball Division II sectional semifinal. The Redskins won their Western Buckeye League opener, 4-3, over St. Marys in a game when all seven runs were scored in the third inning.

Maumee (6-14) scored its lone run in the top of the fifth, and Wapakoneta (16-3) responded with two in the bottom half.

Redskins starting pitcher, sophomore Manny Vorhees, struck out the side in the sixth and went 1-2-3 in the seventh to seal the win.

Maumee starter, Austin Calopietro — a University of Toledo commit — went the distance, allowing four hits for the Panthers.
