OHSAA announces plans for spring sports season

Staff Writer

The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced a tentative plan for the spring sports season.
Schools have been closed since March 16 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. They are currently scheduled to be closed through Friday, May 1. Due to this, there is also a "no contact" rule in place which prohibits practices, scrimmages and games.
Spring sports include baseball, softball, track and field, boys tennis, and lacrosse.
According to the memo which was sent to school administrators on Wednesday, if schools re-open as scheduled, there would be an "acclimation period" from May 4-8.
Seasons would begin for each sport on May 9.
The postseason tournaments would begin in late May and run through the end of June.
It was also noted that if schools are closed for the academic year, there will not be a spring sports season in 2020.
