Lapses can be costly.
The experience and size of Minster proved a bit too much for a young Botkins squad, as the Wildcats won 68-42 in nonleague play on Saturday night.
It was the home opener for Botkins (0-3). The Trojans, whose starting lineup included two sophomores and two freshmen, were able to provide some fight, but runs at the end of the first, then at the end of the second and beginning of the third helped shift the momentum Minster's way.
Sophomore guard Tyler Free led Botkins with 13 points on the night. Senior Spencer Heuker and sophomore Denton Homan had seven points each.
For Minster (3-0), senior Noah Enneking had 19 points, including four 3-pointers, while senior big man Jarod Schulze muscled his way for 12 down low. Mike Ketner added 10 as well.
