WAPAKONETA — It was a big step in the right direction.
The Wapakoneta girls played solidly on both ends, powering their way to a 53-30 win over visiting Kenton in WBL basketball action on Thursday.
The teams were even at 15 after one quarter. The Redskins built a six-point lead by halftime. The defense was especially dominant in the third, holding Kenton without a field goal. Wapakoneta then used good free throw shooting in the final period to wrap up the victory. They are 7-7 overall for the year, and 2-3 in league action.
Makenzie Wilson had 16 points on the night, and Taylor Jenkins also reached double figures with 11. Addy Allen had eight points and six rebounds, while Casey Minnig scored eight and pulled down the same number of rebounds.
