Gun club hosts Outdoor Skills Day

The Moulton Gun Club held its annual Family and Youth Outdoor Skills Day Saturday, where local children learned about gun safety and were given the chance to practice archery and trap shooting.

“Any kids are welcome,” Auglaize County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Justi Chisholm said. “We've had some as young as six up to teenagers. Some of the adults shoot too.”

The event is an important chance for kids to learn more about gun safety, Chisholm noted.

“The sooner we can teach kids about gun safety before we respond to an accident, the better,” he said. “That's what we're trying to get to.”

The gun club also has a trap team, which the club promotes during this event.

“It's a chance to get kids outside and involved in something other than video games,” Chisholm noted.
