News outlets throughout northwest Ohio and Indiana are reporting two Fort Recovery High School softball coaches have been arrested in the death of an Indiana man.
Head coach Esther Stephen, 29, and assistant Shelby Hiestand, 18, have been accused in the killing of Shea Briar, 31. The Commericial Review in Portland has reported Briar was found in a wooded area by members of the Bryant Volunteer Fire Department shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Briar died from injuries sustained. Court documents show Briar filed a child custody lawsuit against Stephen in November; a hearing was set for Feb. 5. The two women were arrested Tuesday; they are being held in the Jay County, IN, Security Center without bond. Charges are expected to be filed today; the investigation is on-going.
