Fisher, Sammons sweep league awards

Megan Fisher and Bill Sammons earned the Western Buckeye League's top individual awards, while six total Wapakoneta Redskins earned all-league honors for the 2016 varsity softball season.

Fisher, a junior, was named the WBL Player of the Year, as she is undefeated as a pitcher for the one-loss Redskins, while Sammons earned the WBL's Coach of the Year honor after he and the Redskins went 9-0 in league games to win the WBL title outright.

Blasia Moyler and Sierra Sammons joined Fisher on the first team. Riley Culver appeared on the second team, Alisha Dirr was a third-teamer and Brooke Schlenker garnered honorable mention.

Wapakoneta (22-1) is still competing in the postseason tournament, set to play in a district championship on Saturday.
