First Friday has gone to the dogs

With the thermometer seemingly stuck above 90 degrees, we're certainly in the dog days of summer, but instead of lamenting the heat, the Wapakoneta Antique and Specialty Shops are looking to have some fun, offer some deals, and promote a worthy cause.

This month's First Friday, a monthly event on the first Friday of each month in which WASS members stay open late, features sidewalk sales down Auglaize St., and potentially a treat for your pup, which they hope you'll bring out for an afternoon stroll.

"A lot of the shops will be having sidewalk sales, just to sort of clear out some stuff for clearance," Landa Tomlinson, owner of WASS store, Casa Chic said. "But we'll also be having Dog Days of Summer, so we'll be collecting dog food, cat food, kitty litter, all the things that the Auglaize County Humane Society could use."

Donations will be collected at any of the WASS locations, and will be put to use at the animal shelter, located on Dixie Highway.
