Elida holds off Wapakoneta boys rally

It's one of the toughest words to hear in sports — "almost."
The Wapakoneta boys basketball team staged a big rally in the second half of Friday's game against Elida, but wound up falling short, 48-45.
The Bulldogs jumped out early and stayed in front, building a 13-point lead by halftime. After an even third quarter, the Redskins put up 19 points in the final stanza. They got within two, 47-45 with 32 seconds to go.
They would miss on a chance to tie. After Elida's Dylan Buetner made a free throw with eight seconds left, the Redskins called time to set up a play.
Trey Ware got the ball to Noah Ambos, who went to the right side of the 3-point arc. His shot came close, but bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded.
