County's successes noted as Spencer seeks fourth term

Doug Spencer wants a fourth terms as a commissioner for Auglaize County.

“In my second and third terms, I didn’t have any competition, so that was good,” he said, drawing chuckles from members of the Wapakoneta Rotary Club Monday afternoon. “But this time, we’ll see how it goes.”

Those comments were a light moment in a serious presentation that outlined Spencer’s thoughts on the vision commissioners have employed over the last few years, a plan that has helped guarantee the county’s successes to date.

He outlined five major points that he and fellow commissioners John Bergman and Don Regula agree are critical to the county’s mission.

“Execute a vetted vision,” Spencer said, pointing to the renovations made at the county courthouse as a primary example of that point. Commissioners planned and saved to make the updates and renovations without incurring any debt.
