Commissioners take a look at County budgets

As budget hearings get underway, Auglaize County departments are revealing their plans and needs for 2019.

The Auglaize Job and Family Services department is asking the Auglaize County Commissioners for an increase to $400,000 dollars of funding from the County's General Revenue Fund, representing a 166 percent increase in their annual receipts from the County.

Family services saw an overall increase of six new foster kids this year, representing a sharp jump to 14 kids that are in the program. Hospital expenses also increased 12 percent in their budget.

According to the commissioners, the department has not sought an increase from the General Fund in at least a decade.
