City cleanup still a topic for discussion

While the city’s Tourism Committee was unable to meet Monday, due to a lack of quorum, Wapakoneta City Council members continued their bid to use some of that group’s budget to help clean up the city.

Citywide cleanup is a continuing theme throughout Wapakoneta, at least in some quarters, and Councilor Jim Neumeier repeated his idea that tourism committee dollars should be used by the city to promote itself.

Neumeier – who first voiced the idea during last week’s Streets and Alleys Committee meeting -- said the 2019 celebration of native son Neil Armstrong’s historic first steps on the moon will put the city in an international spotlight. Suggestions included using the funds to hire an outside firm to perform landscaping and weed control, and city administrators have indicated there are neither...
