Botkins native King O'Shea enters hall of fame

Botkins native Jamie King O’Shea was inducted into the Eastern Kentucky University Athletics Hall of Fame recently.

King O’Shea, after an amazing career running for the Trojans of Botkins High School, had remarkable performances competing in cross country and track and field for the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels.

She was Jamie King as a prep standout. Now married and a stay-at-home mother with four children, King O’Shea was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track and field for the Colonels.

Redskins need 1 more win to clinch league outright

The Wapakoneta Redskins clinched a share of the Western Buckeye League title after they posted 42 points in just under 17 minutes Friday in a 42-0 shutout win against the Van Wert Cougars in a WBL varsity football game at Harmon Field.

Wapakoneta (9-0, 8-0 WBL) will look to clinch the league title outright next Friday in the final week of the regular season, needing a win in its league contest against the Shawnee Indians (2-7, 2-6), as the Redskins lead Kenton by one game in the league standings.

Cavaliers overwhelm Waynesfield-Goshen

WAYNESFIELD — The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers varsity football team celebrated “Cheer for a Cure” during its Friday night Northwest Central Conference matchup against the NWCC’s defending champion, the Lehman Catholic Cavaliers.

The Tigers, however, did not have much to cheer about on the field, as the Cavaliers rolled to a 56-10  blowout win to clinch a share of the NWCC title for this season.

Celina gets past Wapakoneta in overtime

ELIDA — As the game wore on, the Wapakoneta Redskins held down Bekah Carr and Alyssa Cisco long enough to score a tying goal in regulation.

But the Celina Bulldogs duo began to gain steam again at the start of overtime, enough to start getting scoring opportunities.
