WAYNESFIELD — The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers varsity boys track team held off the Fairbanks Panthers in an exciting finish at the Northwest Central Conference track meet.
The Tigers had a team score of 172, while the second place Panthers posted a 167.
W-G’s Eli O’Leary and Drew Lament shared the meet MVP title.
The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity softball team found itself in a tough spot. It was the bottom of the third inning, and they were trailing the Celina Bulldogs by seven runs.
Add to that, the Redskins have only beaten the Bulldogs once in the last four years.
Add the added pressure that if the Redskins lose this game, their tournament life is over.
With a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Wapakoneta Redskins likely thought they could stamp their ticket to the next round of sectional play.
The Shawnee Indians had other plans.
After trailing the Redskins 4-3 at the end of the fifth inning and watching the Bill Sammons-led squad take a 6-3 lead in the sixth, the Indians scored three times in their last at-bat to tie the game at 6.
