Carol A. Knoch, 78, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:08 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born Dec. 22, 1934, in Jackson Township, Shelby County, the daughter of Margaret (Rickert) and Henry C. Christler, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 18, 1956, she married James M. Knoch, and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, James M. (Karen) Knoch, of Flower Mound, Texas, and Eric S. (Beth) Knoch, of Loveland; two grandchildren, Holly and Whittney; two step-grandchildren, Adam and Megan; a great grandson, Emerson; a brother, Roger “Bud” (Rosemary) Christler, of Wapakoneta; a sister, Doris Lunz, of New Bremen; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Gross, Evelyn Waterman and Shirley Schnell.
Carol worked 24 years as matron at the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office. She had also worked at the First National Bank in Jackson Center. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta and a 1952 graduate of Jackson Center High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and traveling.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Mark Bauer officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church.
