YMCA more than a gym

As we ring in the new year, so does the Wapakoneta YMCA and all of its new members.

The Wapakoneta YMCA, like most other gyms, sees a spike in membership from all of those people hoping to follow through on their New Year's resolutions.

But unlike some of those other gyms, the Y puts in a lot of effort to turn the first timers into regulars. "Of course when people join the YMCA, we want them to keep working out," Director of Member Engagement Liz Davis said. "One of our goals is to have everyone in the community living healthy. We'd like to see everyone who joins stay a member forever.

Dylon Webb is one of those members who has been around for a while — over 10 years — and it's not just because of the top notch equipment and facilities the Y has to offer.

"I just love the community here. We've got a really tight knit family here," Webb said. "I really love coming in here and working out with others to achieve our goals."
