Recent Wapakoneta High School graduate Amanda Sims came one step closer to achieving her goal of helping children all around the world Wednesday night.

Sims was the recipient of the Women’s Civic League of Wapakoneta Scholarship, giving her an additional $1,000 to put toward her education. She was presented with the scholarship during the organization’s regular meeting at RJ’s Coffey Cup.

“This little girl really, really had an awesome application for the scholarship and she is so deserving --- I’m so proud of her,” Women’s Civic League member and public relations scholarship committee chairwoman Mary Margaret Barlage said.
