W'field close to naming principal

Waynesfield-Goshen Middle School and High School are closing in on finding a successor for the retiring Principal Becky Diglia, as well as bringing on a new guidance counselor.

Last week, District Superintendent Chris Pfister interviewed eight candidates for the position and will present his recommendation to the Board of Education for an interview on Thursday March 22.
No action will be taken at the meeting.

The five Board members will get the chance to evaluate the candidate, and should they approve, would officially vote on the candidate's hiring during the regularly scheduled Board meeting on April 9.

Pfister and the Board are finding a replacement for Diglia, who presented her resignation to the Board in February and had served as the head of the secondary school since taking the position in 2015.

Diglia is retiring to spend more time with her family and eight grandchildren.

With Diglia's replacement, Pfister hopes to find another strong leader.

"If you get good people in key positions," Pfister said, "things go forward."
