Wayne Binkley, 66

Wayne L. Binkley, 66, of Merrillville, Ind., passed away peacefully Thursday, March 7,2013, at Methodist Hospital Southlake.
Wayne was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Lima, to Ruby (Kantner) and Don Binkley. On Feb. 21, 1970, he married Patricia nee Halaschak, and she survives.
Also surviving are three wonderful children, Jennifer Binkley, of Naples, Italy, Donald (Lisa) Binkley, of Merrillville, Ind., and Erin (Andy) Hlgy, of Merrillville, Ind.; two grandchildren, Lukas Binkley and Logan Binkley; a sister, Karen (Bruce) Weatherhead; a brother, Gary (Darlene) Binkley; and several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Buckland High School, where he lettered in basketball, Wayne relocated to northwest Indiana.Wayne worked for more than 40 years as a steel worker, with employment history at Youngstown Steel, LTV Steel, and finally retired from Mittal Steel in 2013 where he was a member of Union Local 1011 Steelworkers.
Wayne was a generous man, an avid bowler who enjoyed participating with youth bowling. Wayne had four great loves of his life; his family, going to work with his buddies, being a dedicated Ohio State football and basketball fan who was looked forward to March Madness, and shooting casino craps at Blue Chip and 4 Winds Casino.
Wayne was a wonderful and caring husband, father, and friend who was loved dearly. His untimely passing effects so many.
Services are at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rendina Funeral Home, 5100 Cleveland Ave., Gary, Ind. with the Rev. Michael Maginot officiating.
Friends may visit from from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
