Watering flowers just got easier

Wapakoneta City Council’s Tourism Committee recommended – and received council approval – to spend no more than $3,000 to purchase and retrofit a golf cart to water downtown flower planters.

Mayor Tom Stinebaugh – who wrote the application during the early minutes of the 42-minute committee meeting – said watering the flowers is typically handled by either volunteers who haul their own water or city crews using the tanker truck, specifically for the hanging baskets. The addition of the golf cart to the city fleet, Stinebaugh said, would ease the burden and protect the investment the city makes in those hanging baskets.
