October 8, 2013

From staff reports

Wapakoneta Redskins junior Kaitlin Snider won two matches Saturday to claim the Findlay sectional singles title for the 2013 season.

Snider was one of four Wapak girls competing Saturday as district qualifiers for final placing at a Division I Northwest District girls tennis sectional tournament in Findlay.

Snider won three matches Thursday to reach the sectional semifinals, clinching a berth in the district tournament.

Wapak senior Rachel Roberts also qualified for districts Thursday after winning three matches.

Roberts, however, lost her first two matches of the season Saturday in the semifinals and third-place match at sectionals.

Roberts is now 24-2 this season.

Wapak juniors Kiersten Wellons and Chelsea Myers were also district qualifiers following Thursday’s action in the sectional doubles bracket.

Wellons and Myers lost both of their matches Saturday to finish fourth at sectionals.

Snider, Roberts, Wellons and Myers will compete Thursday in the Division I Northwest District tournament at Bowling Green State University.

The top two singles players and the top two doubles teams will advance to the state tournament Oct. 18-19 at Hilliard Davidson High School in Hilliard.
