Wapakoneta still rated 1st in region

The Wapakoneta Redskins remained first in their region for the third straight week, as the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the weekly Ohio prep football computer ratings with two weeks remaining in the regular season.
Wapakoneta (7-1) was the top team Tuesday in Division III, Region 10.
The top eight teams in each region for Divisions II through VII set to qualify for the playoffs. The top 16 teams in each of Division I’s two regions will make the playoffs.
The top four teams in each region for Divisions II through VII will host regional quarterfinal games at their home site. The top eight teams in Division I’s two regions will host regional quarterfinal games at their home site.
Wapak is one of a few Western Buckeye League schools vying for playoff spots.
Celina (7-1), which Wapak beat for Celina’s lone loss this season, was rated eighth Tuesday in Division III, Region 10.
Celina and Wapakoneta would have played in the first round of the playoffs if Tuesday’s ratings were the final ones of the season.
Kenton (8-0), the only team to beat the Redskins this season, remained third in Division IV, Region 12.
Defiance (5-3) was rated seventh Tuesday in Division III, Region 8.
Two of Wapak’s previous opponents are seeing their playoff berth hopes fade after Tuesday’s ratings, as Bellefontaine remained 12th in Division III, Region 10, while Elida fell from 11th to 14th in Division III, Region 8.
