The Wapakoneta Redskins ended their Western Buckeye League schedule Monday with a 159-181 win over the Van Wert Cougars at Hickory Sticks Golf Course in Van Wert.

The win moved Wapak to 7-2 overall in the WBL, good for second place, and gave Wapak a three-match win streak in WBL play.

“We played our best round of the year where four of our six golfers never played,” Wapak varsity coach Kenny Wayman said Monday. “We played steady and consistent throughout the round.
“I’m thrilled how we finished the regular season.  Hopefully, this will carry over on Friday at Shawnee Country Club.”

The Redskins will now attempt to knock off the WBL regular season champion Bath, who will enter Friday’s league tournament with a 9-0 record.

Wapak will host Indian Lake today at the Wapakoneta Country Club for its final home match of the season.

For the Redskins on Monday, Bobby Crow (37), Alex Gossard (41) and Nick Bruns (42) each recorded season-lows Monday. Drew Wayman added a 39.

Dan Bogan (46) and Ryan Hunlock (52) also played for Wapak.

Justin Price led Van Wert with a 43. Adam Jurezyk (45), Nick Etter (46) and Branden Hernandez (47) concluded the Cougars’ scoring.
