From staff reports

The Wapakoneta Redskins took the top spot in their region Tuesday as the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the latest edition of the weekly football computer ratings.

Wapakoneta (5-1) was second last week in Division III, Region 10, and swapped places with Mount Orab Western Brown (6-0) after its 52-7 win over Defiance last Friday.

The top eight teams in each region for Divisions II through VII will qualify for the playoffs, while the top 16 teams in Division I will make the playoffs.

Several of the Redskins’ fellow Western Buckeye League schools were listed in the top 12 of Tuesday’s ratings in their respective regions.

Celina (5-1), which Wapak beat 29-26 in Week 5, was fifth Tuesday in Division III, Region 10.

In Division III, Region 8, Defiance (3-3) was slotted seventh, while Elida (4-2) came in 11th place.

Kenton (6-0), the lone team to beat Wapak this season, was rated second in Division IV, Region 12.

Bellefontaine (3-3), the Redskins’ Week 1 non-league opponent, was 10th in Division III, Region 10.
