Wapak Schools approve contracts

Twenty supplemental contracts for the 2012-13 school year were approved by the Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education during a regular meeting this week.

Contracts approved pending satisfactory completion of criminal records checks include:

• Suzanne Temple, half adviser for Art Club, approximately $1,023.

• Kim Wheeler, half adviser for Art Club, approximately $906.

• Adam Friemering, Academic Team, approximately $2,047.

• Lisa Romer, French Club, approximately $2,047.

• Tim Smith, high school musical, approximately $2,282, and Show Choir, approximately $3,927.

• Steve Wimmers, assistant instrumental music director, approximately $4,900, and half director for middle school instrumental music, approximately $1,963.

• Klayton Hilleary, high school instrumental music director, approximately $6,545, and half director for middle school instrumental music, approximately $1,963.

• Dale Meyer, National Honor Society, approximately $2,047.

• Julie Courter, high school Student Senate, approximately $2,953.

• Carly Stiger, yearbook adviser, approximately $5,068.

• Jason Johnson, yearbook business manager, approximately $1,711.

• Erica Drexler and Jessica Reymiller, middle school volleyball, approximately $2,282 each.

• Ashley Fuerst, a third of seventh- and eighth-grade football cheerleading, approximately $492.

• Joan Wade, middle school Student Senate, approximately $1,980.

• Dawn Rankin, fifth-grade Quiz Bowl, approximately $772.

• Kim Mertz, Flag Corps, approximately $2,551.

In other personnel matters, the following were approved by board members:

• Amendment to supplemental contract to employ Joretta Hayes as freshman football cheerleading adviser for the 2012-13 school year for approximately $984.

• Substitutes for the 2012-13 school year, including former Wapakoneta Middle School Principal Ray Payne, who retired this summer, and would be able to return as needed to substitute teach in the district. Also approved to the substitute list were Jill Askins, as a teacher,and Sheryl Beers, as a bus driver.

• Resignations were accepted from special education teacher Michelle Knippen and food service secretary Rose Roof, both of whose resignations were effective at the end of the 2011-12 school year.

• Bus mechanic John Bowersock’s retirement to be effective Dec. 31.

• Rick Pummell was employed as a second-shift custodian on year one of the salary schedule for eight hours a day, 260 days a year. With no boiler’s license he is to receive $15.14 per hour pay.

• Diane Zenz as a food service worker on year one of the salary schedule for 2.75 hours per day at $10.43 per hour.

In other business, board members approved the annual eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., for Nov. 16 through Nov. 20 at no cost to the district.

Board members met in executive session for the appointment or employment of a public employee or official with no action taken.
