Wapak, Elida share league title
The Wapakoneta Redskins and the Elida Bulldogs shared the Western Buckeye League title for the 2015-16 season upon the conclusion of the league tournament Saturday.
Wapakoneta went 9-0 in league duals during the regular season, with Elida going 8-1. In the tournament Saturday, the Bulldogs finished first, and the Redskins placed second.
Both schools earned 19 points based on their finish in the regular season and the tournament Saturday, leading to the split title.
The WBL title is Wapakoneta's 15th in program history, its fourth shared co-championship all time and its first since 2013 that completed a run of four straight.
Redskins junior Landon Hall (195 pounds) won his third straight league title, classmate Tyler Copeland (138) won his second in a row and senior Dylan Plaugher (160), a three-time league runner-up, captured his first WBL title Saturday.
