BOTKINS — Zoning issues regarding the proposed front entrance sign at the new school building came up at a regular Botkins Village Council meeting Tuesday evening.
Village Administrator Jesse Kent said the sign is to exceed the limits of 32 square feet in size and 6 feet in height.
Mayor Steve Woodruff advised council of a similar situation when a sign exceeded allowed proportions. In that case, council did not make any exceptions.
“If they can’t have it, I guess you would deny it, and their next step would be to zoning appeals if they want to keep it,” Woodruff said.
No action was taken.
While reviewing the fire and safety meeting, council member Lance Symonds relayed a message from police chief Tom Glass about a leak in the police department. Symonds said there is a concern of water coming in through the front door, and there is water leaking into the evidence locker.
Also on fire and safety, Symonds said there needs to be some additions made to the employee handbook. Required drug testing for employees after accidents, updated ID checks for individuals operating county vehicles and regular motor vehicle inspections will be added to the handbook.
