Those traveling past Casa Chic in downtown Wapakoneta over the weekend may have witnessed the scene of a little girls’ tea party in the storefront window.

Girls of varying ages attended the “Dolly and Me — American Girl Doll and Charm It Tea,” accompanied by their dolls. Valentine’s hearts, colors and and sweet treats were the center of the decor, which included chocolate covered strawberries, cup cakes, cake pops, Jello and candies.

BellaMia Boutique owner Pam Lange said the local event reservations were filled within a few days. She said the reason the event is so popular is because many girls are interested in the American Girl Dolls, which the event is centered around.

“My girls loved American Girl,” Lange said. “They always loved dressing up for tea parties, it makes them feel special.”

Lange said the girls enjoy having a personal day out with their friends or family members.

“We don’t live in Columbus or Chicago where the American Girl Doll store is where the girls can do that very easily, so we wanted to do something locally that the girls can enjoy and make them feel special.”

Each girl received a goodie bag and a charm for a piece of jewelry.

Lange said she is already planning for next year’s tea party, and she is hoping to include manicures and pedicures, among  other additions.
