Sylvan J. "Jake" Paul, 88

Sylvan J. “Jake” Paul, age 88, of 18950 Kettlersville Road, New Knoxville, Ohio, passed away Sept. 11, 2011 at 9:37 p.m. at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, Ohio.
He was born on March 19, 1923, in Botkins, the son of the late Thelma (Zimpfer) and Edison Paul. On Aug. 11, 1951, he married Betty Snapp, who survives.
Jake is also survived by his son, Ron Paul of Botkins; a daughter, Renee (Jim) McGriff, of Milford; a brother; Don Paul, of Orange County, Calif., and a sister, Carol Singelton, of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Jake proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion Post 217 and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Botkins.
He was a retired postal worker and former owner of Jake’s Tavern in Botkins. He loved to play golf and work.
He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with the Pastor Robert Clark officiating.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, Sept. 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Loramie Valley Cemetery in Botkins with full military services.
