NAPOLEON â€” The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls swimming team finished eighth and the boys team 10th at the Napoleon Wildcat Invitational on Saturday.
In all, 16 teams competed in the meet.
The Wapak girls team scored 126 points to take eighth. Bath was seventh with 151 points. Napoleon won the event with 496 points.
Wapakâ€™s boys team scored 92 points, just five points behind ninth-place Napoleon 2. Napoleon 1 took first with 550 points.
Freshman Josie Miller had a strong showing for the girls team. Individually, Miller placed third in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100 butterfly.
She also teamed with freshman Taylor Hager, sophomore Taylor Law and sophomore Stephanie Kessen to take fourth in the 200 medley relay before joining Law, Kessen and junior Haley Buchanan for a sixth-place effort in the 200 freestyle relay.
Law also did well individually, grabbing fourth in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 100 backstroke.
For the boys, junior Nate Hager seized individual honors in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, placing fourth in both events.
Hager joined freshman Hayden Metzger, senior Ryan Kremer and junior Blake Bayliff in a sixth-place effort in the 200 medley relay.
Kremer also took fourth in the 100 butterfly and sixth in the 50 freestyle.
The Redskins return to action 5:30 p.m. Thursday with a home meet at the Wapakoneta YMCA.View more articles in:
