From staff reports

Wapakoneta High School will host three Division II, Region 9-B matches Wednesday on the first night of the second annual state dual team tournament.

Two matches will be contested simultaneously starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, as Celina and Benjamin Logan will face off, while host Wapakoneta and Shawnee will meet.

The matches’ two winners will wrestle each other 20 minutes after the conclusion of the last completed match.

The winner of the final match Wednesday at WHS will face the other representative from Region 9-B in the regional semifinal round of the state dual team tournament on Jan. 29 at a site and time to be determined.

Wapakoneta is the No. 2 seed in Region 9-B.

The top seed in the region is Indian Lake, which is hosting the other side of the Region 9-B bracket.

Indian Lake will meet the winner of Bellefontaine and St. Marys, and the winner of that match will move on to face the winner of the Wapakoneta site.

Regional quarterfinal matches in the dual team tournament will begin statewide Wednesday.

Thirty-two teams advancing from the first night of matches will reach the Jan. 29 regional semifinals, needing two more wins to reach the Feb. 8 state tournament at St. John Arena in Columbus.

Tickets for Wednesday's regional quarterfinals will cost $7. Tickets for the Jan. 29 regional semifinals and finals will cost $8.

This is the second year the OHSAA has hosted the midseason state dual team tournament.

The OHSAA will host the individual state championships starting with sectional tournaments the week of Feb. 10 and conclude with the three-day state tournament on Feb. 30, Feb. 31 and March 1.
