Shirley A. Bonnoront, 86

Shirley A. Bonnoront, 86, of Wapakoneta, died Sunday morning, April 13, 2014, at Auglaize Acres.  She was born Nov. 13, 1927, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Howard and Alethia (Elliott) Bonnoront, who preceded her in death.  

Survivors include, cousins, Mary Dee (Donald) Malueg, of Wapakoneta, Steven (Lisa) Malueg, of Lima, Rebecca (Greg) Ott, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Sheri (Mike) Toth, of Pickerington.

She was preceded in death by a cousin, Barbara Elliston.

Shirley retired an art teacher from Shawnee Schools after 28 years of service.  A 1945 graduate of Blume High School, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1949 from Miami University and a Bachelor of Science in Art Education in 1951 from The Ohio State University.  She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, in Wapakoneta.  She was a dedicated supporter of the Auglaize County Humane Society and volunteered at their bingo fundraisers.  Her interests included making pottery, working outdoors in her yard and flowerbeds, and listening to sports on her little red transistor radio.  She also enjoyed attending theater performances and museums, collecting newspaper clippings, and caring for animals, especially her cat, Squeak.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Robert Blohm officiating.  Burial of her cremated remains will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have memorial contributions be directed to Shirley’s favorite charity, the Auglaize County Humane Society.
