A Wapakoneta man was among six Auglaize County residents as well as one Celina man arrested for trafficking in drugs, Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office officials announced this morning.
Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said the arrests were the result of a recent investigation by the Auglaize-Mercer County Grand Lake Drug Task Force, in conjunction with the St. Marys, Wapakoneta and Minster police departments.
“The arrests were the result of a six-month investigation,” said Solomon, who reported that the arrests were for the sale of heroin and marijuana. “Further arrests are anticipated and the investigation continues.”
Arrests were made on Wednesday and those arrested transported to the Auglaize County Jail.
Justin Rogers, 29, of Wapakoneta, was the lone Wapakoneta man arrested. He was charge with three counts of trafficking in marijuana.
Five people from St. Marys were arrested including Adam Roberts, Mitchell Newbauer, Josh Cox, Julia Beckett and Codie Shirk.
Roberts, 23, was arrested on three counts of trafficking in marijuana and one count of trafficking in heroin.
Newbauer, 20, was arrested on two counts of trafficking in marijuana.
Cox, 30, is charged with five counts of trafficking in heroin.
Beckett, 24, is charged with two counts of trafficking in heroin, and Shirk, 22, is charged with three counts of trafficking in heroin.
Lonnie Spence, 22, of Celina, was arrested on one count trafficking in heroin and one count trafficking in marijuana.
Solomon commended the Drug Task Force in continuing its fight against drugs in the county.
“All members of the Task Force are doing a fantastic job in the battle of the drug problem,” Solomon said. “Heroin continues to be a problem drug in this area.”
