Lilli Schaub’s goal with just under nine minutes left in Thursday’s contest broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be the difference in the Wapakoneta Redskins’ 2-1 victory over the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds in non-league varsity girls soccer action at Harmon Field.
More than 70 minutes of game action passed between Wapak’s first and second goals Thursday, as Kylee Dahman scored the Redskins’ first goal 21 seconds into the first half.
LCC tied the game at 17:51 in the first half on a goal by Sydney Santaguida.
Mikayla Halfhill had six saves for Wapak.
Wapak’s win Thursday followed its only loss of the season, to Elida on Tuesday. The team is now 6-1 overall.
The Redskins will host Bath in a Western Buckeye League game at 6 p.m. Monday.
