BOTKINS — The Riverside Pirates rolled to an 8-1 win over the Botkins Trojans in a non-league varsity baseball game Friday at Botkins Community Park.
Riverside held the Trojans to just three hits while knocking out 12 of its own.
Botkins’ lone run came in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Pirates scored one in the first, two in the fourth, three in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Evan Dietz was 1-for-3 with a double for the Trojans.
Seth Hoying was tabbed with the loss.
Botkins fell to 6-14. Riverside is 15-6.
The Trojans will host New Knoxville today.

BOTKINS — Riverside pounded out 16 hits in a five-inning run-rule win Friday.
Pirates pitcher Paige Atterholt held the Trojans to just one hit while striking out nine and walking just one.
On Thursday, Botkins suffered an 8-0 loss to the Russia Raiders in a Shelby County League game.
The Trojans had just one hit, a single by Jessica Dietz. Russia had 10 hits.
Botkins (3-15) is at Jackson Center on Thursday.
Anna 9, Waynesfield-Goshen 6
WAYNESFIELD — The Tigers kept it close but couldn’t overcome Anna after falling behind early on Friday.
The Rockets took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. W-G’s Logan Badertscher scored in the bottom half to make it a 2-1 game.
Anna added another run in the second. And Tigers freshman Bailey Dyer scored in the second to keep it a one-run game, 3-2.
The Rockets took control with three runs in the third. And once again, W-G answered with two more. But the Tigers could never get over the hump and Anna held on for the win.
Badertscher scored three times for W-G. Dyer scored twice.
The Tigers will be at Columbus Grove for a doubleheader today.View more articles in:
