Ross M. McCain, 62

Ross M. McCain, 62, of Lima, passed away at 1:41 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center. 

He was born Oct. 28, 1951, in Celina, to Nile and Jewell (Maynard) McCain. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Lima. 

Ross graduated from Shawnee High School in 1969, from The Ohio State University in 1973 and received his MBA from the University of Dayton in 1980. For the past 33 years he served as a financial advisor with Edward Jones at his practice in Wapakoneta, retiring Nov. 1, 2013.

Ross is also survived by his wife, Jaye (Gerstner) McCain, whom he married Feb. 8, 1974; one son, Zack McCain, and his wife Lindsey; two grandsons, Aiden and Austin McCain; two brothers, John (Susan) McCain, of Lima, and Dana (Chris) McCain, of Columbus; one sister, Kathy McCain, of Centerville; mother-in-law, Helen Gerstner; brother-in-law, Matt (Kim) Gerstner; and five nieces and nephews, Rachel, Isaac, Titus, Josh and Stephanie.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Gerstner. 

Ross was a longtime member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and served on the church's finance committee; member and past president of the Wapakoneta Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow; past president of Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce; member and past chairman of Dollars for Scholars; member of Presidents Club of The Ohio State University and co-chair for The Ohio State-Lima Capital Campaign; and member of Shawnee Country Club.

 Mass of Christian burial will be concelebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with Fr. David Ross and Fr. Stephen Blum officiating. Friends may call on Monday, June 9, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services Shawnee Chapel. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Foundation, 2200 W. Elm St. Lima, Ohio 45805; St. Rita's Remembrance Fund, 730 W. Market St. Lima, Ohio 45801; or The Ohio State University - Lima, 4240 Campus Drive, Lima, Ohio 45804.
