Richard L. â€śRichâ€ť Houchin, 59, of Lakeview, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born March 17, 1952, in Bellefontaine, the son of the late Jane (Sturm) and Richard J. Houchin. On May 2, 1983, in Greennville, he married Jayne Sacksteder and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Rick (Candi) Houchin, of Alpena, Mich., Kelly (Abby) Houchin, of Fort Loramie; five daughters, Stacy (Roberto) Hubbard, of Russells Point, Lori (John) Albers, of Fort Loramie, Shannon (Scott Cox) Wyen, of Albemarle, N.C., Patti (Dan) Serey, of Miamisburg, Sandra (Jeremy) Lowery, of Bellefontaine; 19 grandchildren, Skyler, Steven, Courtney, Austin, Taylor, Brenna, Gracie, Bradley, Jude, Jessica, Matt, Jordon, Mackenzie, Hannah, Addison, Gage, Gavynn, Gabriel, Kyleigh; three sisters, Linda (Don) Fox of Millbury, Vikki (Steve) Carnes of Bellefontaine, and Susie (Mike) Troth, of Bellefontaine; a brother, Robert (Ruthann) Houchin, of Bellefontaine; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Wyen; three grandchildren, Corey, Nicole and Katie; and mother-in-law, Norma Sacksteder.
He was a 1970 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. He was a production associate at Honda ELP in East Liberty for 10 years. He was a member of Crossroads Church of God in Lima and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 of Lakeview. He enjoyed doing anything with his family, playing with his grandchildren, and fixing a variety of things in his garage.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shoffstall Funeral Home in Lakeview, with the Rev. Randy Bargerstock officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Internment is at Huntsville Cemetery.
Memorial Contribution may be given to the Indian Lake State Park or Indian Lake EMS.
