Redskins win 31-team Columbus tournament

The Wapakoneta Redskins recorded a major accomplishment Saturday, winning the boys portion of the 10th Annual Ohio High School Invitational Kick-Off Classic Tournament in Columbus.

Wapak bested a field of 31 teams Saturday, including some fellow members of the West Ohio High School Bowling Conference.

With a score of 3,088, the Redskins finished tied for 11th in the standings after the qualifying round, which consisted of three games and two Baker games.

Wapak then joined a 16-team bracket, seeded 11th overall.

The Redskins landed wins over Struthers, Kettering Fairmont and Zanesville before topping Cincinnati LaSalle in the final match.

Coldwater, the defending WOHSBC and state champion, finished 11th.

The Wapakoneta girls team finished 23rd in the qualifying round with a team score of 2,408, failing to advance to the 16-team tournament.
