October 2, 2013

From staff reports

The Wapakoneta Redskins, after their win Friday over the previously unbeaten Celina Bulldogs, vaulted to second place in their region Tuesday as the Ohio High School Athletic Association released the second version of the weekly high school football computer ratings.

Wapakoneta (4-1) has won three straight games and sits behind only Mount Orab Western Brown in Division III, Region 10.

The Redskins were sixth in the region in the first ratings release Sept. 24.

Celina (4-1) fell one spot to fifth in Division III, Region 10, after its loss Friday to Wapak in a Western Buckeye League contest.

After 10 games, the top eight teams in each region from Divisions II through VII will qualify for the playoffs, while the top 16 teams from Division I will make the playoffs.

The Defiance Bulldogs (3-2), the Redskins' WBL opponent this coming Friday, were sixth in Tuesday's computer ratings.

Elsewhere in the WBL, the Kenton Wildcats (5-0), the only team to beat Wapak this season, climbed one spot to second in Division IV, Region 12, while the Elida Bulldogs (3-2) were tied for 10th in Division III, Region 8.
