Redskins still unbeaten after Bluffton win, 5-0

The Wapakoneta Redskins maintained their unbeaten record Wednesday after a 5-0 win over the Bluffton Pirates in a non-league varsity girls tennis match at the Wapakoneta Rotary Courts at Wapakoneta High School.

The Redskins improved to 6-0 overall this season.

Wapak’s win Wednesday was its third straight by a 5-0 score and fifth of the variety in six matches this season.

Kaitlin Snider defeated Maggie Fett, 6-1, 6-3, at first singles. Allie Zofkie blanked Julianna Hotmire, 6-0, 6-0, in second singles. Rachel Roberts shut out Abbey Heslep, 6-0, 6-0, in the third singles match.

At first doubles, Kiersten Wellons and Chelsea Myers beat Morgan Pughsley and Kayla Edgington, 6-2, 6-0. In the second doubles match, Carly Buzzard and Madison Watt handled Brielle Hamilton and Sara Bertka, 6-3, 6-1.

Wapak will return to the courts Tuesday with a road match in Western Buckeye League play against Celina.
