In an extremely low-scoring game, the Wapakoneta Redskins held off the Bath Wildkittens for a 29-24 district semifinal win Thursday, putting themselves in a district final for the third straight year.

Wapakoneta led 16-13 entering the fourth quarter, during which both teams nearly doubled their scoring. An offensive rebound and putback by Redskins senior Riley Culver gave her team a game-high eight-point lead, 28-20, with less than 30 seconds left to help seal the win.

The Redskins (20-4) will play the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans at 7 p.m. Saturday in a Division II district final at Paulding High School.

Wapakoneta's win Thursday was its 20th of the season to become just the second team in program history to win 20 or more games in a single season.

Bath had beaten the Redskins 57-44 in the two Western Buckeye League schools' regular season game Jan. 14, for Wapakoneta's lone double-digit defeat of the season. The Wildkittens' had also won five straight district titles, including the last two against Wapakoneta.
