As the game progressed, the Wapakoneta Redskins’ offense regressed Tuesday.

After a back-and-forth opening period, the New Knoxville Rangers began to shut down the Redskins the rest of the way en route to a 57-28 win in non-league varsity girls basketball action Tuesday at Wapakoneta High School.

The 29 points were the highest margin of defeat Wapak has endured in six losses this season.

“It was a combination of a lot of things,” Redskins varsity coach Rusty Allen said. “I don’t think you can say it was one or two things.”

Seven lead changes highlighted the first period, after which NK led 15-12.

The Rangers took the lead for good late in the opening period but the game remained largely competitive until halftime.
