The opportunity to work and live full time in the town she grew up in was the driving force behind newly appointed Auglaize County Administrator Erica Preston’s decision to accept the position, the 32 year old said Friday in an interview with the Wapakoneta Daily News.

Preston, who moved back to Wapakoneta in October after seven years of living in Dublin, Ohio, had been commuting from home to her job at a law firm in downtown Columbus for nearly nine months before accepting the position in early July.

“Moving back to Wapak was a logical step — I’d always wanted to come back,” Preston said. “Our kids are at that age where we wanted them to have that hometown feel and a sense of community. Being from here, I knew that’s what it was like.”
