PREP ROUNDUP: Tigers fifth in NWCC boys golf tourney

MARION — The Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers finished fifth in the Northwest Central Conference varsity boys golf tournament Wednesday at Whetstone Golf Club in Marion.
W-G turned in a team score of 417. Riverside won the tournament with a 342.
For the Tigers, Eric Shaner carded a 93, Justus Ball a 97, Garrett Hauenstein a 109 and Ryan Agnew 118.
Riverside’s Kyle Hurley was medalist with an 83.
Fairbanks (375) and Perry (394) rounded out the top three. USV was fourth with a 402.
Most of the tournament was held in rainy conditions that varied from a drizzle to a downpour.
W-G finished its season 10-16 overall and 5-8 in the league.

GIRLS TENNIS
Findlay 4, Wapak 1
The Trojans defeated the Redskins on Wednesday at Wapakoneta High School.
Findlay’s Meghan Gray edged Makenzie Klock 6-1, 6-1 in first singles.
Teammate Alexis Soli topped Shelby Gillespie 6-0, 6-1 in second singles.
In third singles, Annie Harrrod gave Wapak its only win with a 6-3, 7-6 triumph over Miranda Dempsey.
Abby Arner and Maggie Kelly beat Kiersten Wellons and Carly Buzzard 6-1, 6-2 in first doubles.
And second doubles went to Kate Sharma and Maddie Bruce over Rachel Roberts and Amanda Sims, 6-1, 6-1.
Wapak is 6-7 on the season. Findlay improved to 11-4.
